Efectividad de la terapia manual y del ejercicio terapéutico en artrosis de rodilla

Objetivo: Esta revisión evalúa la efectividad de las intervenciones de Terapia manual sola y/o combinada con ejercicio terapéutico para la mejoría de los dolores crónicos de rodilla.
Material y Métodos: Se llevó a cabo la consulta de bases de datos bibliográficas (PubMed, EMBASE, PEDro y Cinhal) entre enero y marzo del 2016.
Se obtuvieron datos únicamente de ensayos clínicos aleatorizados, que datasen sobre la osteoartritis de rodilla, que incluyesen la terapia manual y el ejercicio terapéutico físico como formas de tratamiento
Los estudios fueron seleccionados por un revisor, por otro lado, el análisis de la calidad metodológica fue efectuado por dos revisores.
Resultados: Se identificaron 4 estudios con 498 participantes que utilizaban la terapia manual y/o el ejercicio terapéutico de forma única o combinada con otras intervenciones.
Conclusiones: Ambas intervenciones demostraron efectividad en cuanto al tratamiento de dolor crónico, desde un enfoque combinado.
No obstante, hacen falta más estudios debido a que no se mostraban diferencias significativas.
