About the Journal
Focus and Scope
The journal's mission is focused on publishing scientific papers resulting from research conducted by professionals, teachers, technicians and undergraduate and graduate students that contribute to science and innovation in Health Technology.
The journal complies with the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and adheres to Elsevier's criteria for Research and Publication Ethics.
Peer Review Process
National and foreign collaborations in Spanish and English are accepted, provided that the authors comply with the recommendations for the presentation of the articles.
The author, after registering on the journal's website, must upload the article, once a set of requirements have been met. Thanks to the facilities offered by OJS, he/she will be able to follow the status of the publication through the platform, from which he/she will also receive the different notifications during the course of the editorial process.
Upon receiving an article and verifying that it conforms to the standards, it is submitted to a double-blind peer review process, where neither authors nor reviewers are identified among themselves. The refereeing is carried out by experts external to the journal, national and international experts of recognized prestige, who assess the merits and deficiencies of the manuscript. The review process is carried out in an impartial, independent and critical manner, and includes the evaluation of legality and authenticity of the scientific articles.
For the evaluation, the form (general refereeing guide) proposed and designed by the Editorial Committee of the journal is used, based on the good practices in scientific publication and on the standardized guidelines for the evaluation of scientific manuscripts and available on the web site.
The Editorial Committee conciliates the criteria and decisions of the reviewers, which are taken into account for the editorial decision that is communicated by e-mail to the author of the correspondence. This decision can be:
Publishable: the article meets the required criteria and characteristics, so it can be published as is.
Publishable with modifications: the article meets almost all the required criteria and characteristics, so it needs minimal corrections to be published. In this case, corrections are made, the publisher is notified and a decision is made as to whether the errors have been corrected. If the errors are corrected, the paper is accepted (publishable), otherwise it is resubmitted again to the author until the errors are corrected.
Re-evaluable: the article has errors or does not meet the required criteria and characteristics, but these do not affect the quality and veracity of the publication. Corrections are sent to the author, who forwards the article to the journal, initiating a second round of evaluation. As many rounds of review will be carried out as required.
Unpublishable: the article does not comply with the methodological and content standards, which undermines the quality or veracity of the article.
In conjunction with the suggested refereeing guide, other standardized evaluation guides of international use can also be used, both by authors and reviewers, such as: STROBE (for observational studies) and SQUIRE (standards for excellence in reporting quality).
Other guidelines available in several languages at EQUATOR (Enhancing the QUAlity and Transparency Of health Research).
The final decision on publication or rejection of the manuscript rests exclusively with the Editorial Board of the journal. The editor has 15 days from the date of assignment to make the editorial decision.
Accepted manuscripts will be published within a period of less than one year from the date of submission to the journal.
It should be emphasized that the documents sent by the authors are considered confidential during the entire evaluation process. Only if it is decided to publish, the content will be communicated to third parties. Referees and editors must refrain from communicating any aspect of the work under consideration to persons outside the Editorial Team.
All approved papers, before publication, will be submitted to the Editorial Team for final evaluation. The composition of each regular issue will be made according to editorial criteria to balance the relevance and originality of the contributions with the variety of contents addressed.
