Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published or previously submitted to another journal (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to Editor).

  • The file sent is in Microsoft Word format.

  • Web addresses have been added for references where possible.

  • The text complies with the guidelines established in the guidelines for authors.

  • The text complies with the bibliographic and style requirements indicated in the Rules for Authors, which can be found in About the journal.

  • The text is accompanied on its last page, by the letter from the authors.

Author Guidelines

 Cuban Journal of Health Technology provides immediate Open Access to content, based on the principle of offering the public free and open access to research, helps the global exchange of knowledge. THE JOURNAL DOES NOT APPLY CHARGES FOR PUBLICATION AT ANY STAGE OF THE EDITORIAL PROCESS (APC). It is possible to access the content freely and universally.

 

According to the open access policy, the Cuban Health Technology Magazine is published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License that allows sharing (copying and redistributing the material in any medium or format). Adapt (remix, transform and create from the material), under the conditions of acknowledging authorship and not making commercial use of the materials.

 

The electronic journal will use Open Journal Systems (OJS), a free software solution developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP). Dedicated to the use and development of new technologies for use in academic research. The content can be accessed through the electronic address www.revtecnología.sld.cu

 

The Cuban Journal of Health Technology, consists of a set of publication modalities that provide different spaces to participate and make contributions: Editorial (they will be commissioned and approved by the Editorial Team), Original Articles, Review Articles (Bibliographic Review), Presentation or Case Studies and Brief Communication. (custom made).

 

Before uploading the article, all authors must have the ORCID code, for which they must register at www.orcid.org, as it is an international identification code for researchers.

 

Important: when choosing the section of the magazine to which the article belongs, any type of original article goes in the section with this name.

 

Each work must be accompanied by a letter from the authors, addressed to the Executive Editor, explaining the title, the importance of the article and the section in which the publication is requested. The authors must clarify that the original work has not been sent to another journal. In addition, if they agree with the content, that they assign the publication rights to the magazine and that there are no conflicts of interest.

 

It must also include the contribution of each author to the publication (not in percentage, but the wording of what each one did). It shows compliance with ethical aspects. Be responsible for their own contributions, questions related to the accuracy or completeness of the work, even in which the author was not involved, investigated, resolved and documented in the literature.

Explanatory note: articles that do not comply with these rules and/or that do not complete all the metadata (all the data on the platform at the time of uploading a new submission) will be immediately rejected.

 

Helpful tips for writing papers

 

• Write concisely and clearly.

• Use the impersonal style.

• Avoid, whenever possible, the use of the passive voice.

• Take care of the use of the capital letter, the concordance in gender and number.

• Reduce the use of participles and gerunds to the necessary cases.

• Avoid long sentences and excessive subordinations, use appropriate punctuation marks to separate the statements.

• Use the media to highlight important text or elements. Set the sheet to letter size, left and right margin 3cm, bottom and top margins 2.5cm, single spacing.

• Must have all pages numbered, place the number in the bottom right alignment.

• Underlining will not be used and the use of bold is reserved to identify headings and subheadings.

• Italics will be used to highlight a term or concept, words in a language other than Spanish, book and magazine titles.

• Sentences or highlighted words with capital letters are not accepted.

• The abbreviations and acronyms used must appear, the first time, between parentheses preceded by the full term, unless it is a common unit of measurement.

General structure of the articles

 

The first page will contain the type of article, justified to the right and in bold, in addition:

 

    Title in Spanish and English that will not exceed 15 words (with few exceptions). In Spanish and English. Do not put the word "Title". Verdana style 14, italic, bold, centered, all capitals. You must describe the content concisely, clearly and specifically. Acronyms or abbreviations will not be used in it. Punctuation marks that interrupt the sentence will be avoided.

 

    Full names and surnames of the authors ordered according to participation (Remember in the metadata of the article, complete the data of the authors so that they are visible in the table of contents). Verdana style 10, italic and centered. (No more than 6 authors will be entered for all articles, except brief communications, where no more than 3 are allowed).

 

    Those who meet the criteria recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) will be accepted as authors. See criteria in: Vancouver 2021.pdf

 

    College degree. Specialty if you are a doctor. Scientific degree (Master and/or Doctor of Science). investigative category. Teaching category. Institution where he teaches. University to which the institution belongs. Institution where you work. Province. Country. Email. Verdana 10 style, italic and justified. The authors will be ordered according to the degree of participation.

 

    The author must be indicated to send the correspondence. Write the name of the Cuban health institutions as they appear in Infomed on the site: Directory of institutions.

It will include all the text in Verdana 10, with the section names in bold, all caps, left-aligned.

 

    Abstract: structured abstract of no more than 250 words, containing a brief introduction, objectives, methods, most important results and conclusions. Do not include references or equations. If the language is Spanish or English, the summary must be in both languages.

 

    Keywords: they must be specific and representative of the semantic content of the document. They must contain at least 3 key words or phrases, in italics.

 

    It is recommended to use the DeCs thesaurus. (Descriptors in Health Sciences) https://decs.bvsalud.org/es/. You can also consult the MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) for the English language. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/mesh. Please check that the keywords are.

 

    This journal only accepts bibliographical references with the Vancouver Standards.

 

The tables, graphs and/or figures will not exceed six in the original article and the presentation or case reports. In the rest, up to 3 are allowed.

 

Structure according to type of article

 

Editorial: it is a short article that expresses the positions and/or criteria of an author on a current issue or problem. It is carried out by order of the Editorial Team. It can be accompanied by three bibliographical references, delimited by the Vancouver style. It has keywords. The extension will not exceed 1000 words, from the title to the bibliographical references, included.

 

Original articles: up to 5,000 words will be accepted, including bibliographical references, tables, graphs and figures. It will present original results of research projects. It will be made up of a structured abstract, keywords, introduction, methods, results, discussion, conclusions and bibliographical references.

 

Review articles: up to 6000 words will be accepted, not including bibliographical references and tables and figures. It is the article that refers to already published documents, in which the current state of a particular topic is compiled, analyzed and synthesized. Review articles should be prepared with the most up-to-date bibliography of the subject being addressed. It will be made up of a structured abstract, keywords, introduction, methods, analysis and integration of information and bibliographical references.

 

 Presentations or case studies: up to 3,500 words will be accepted, including bibliographical references and up to 3 illustrations (between figures and tables). Emphasis will be placed on the importance of the techniques, diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitative means or any other type of Health Technology, used in the presentation or case study. It will be made up of an unstructured summary, keywords, introduction, information on the patient or case study, clinical findings or case study, schedule, diagnostic evaluation, therapeutic intervention, follow-up and results, discussion, patient perspective, informed consent, and bibliographic references.

 

Short communication: up to 1,500 words will be accepted. It will be carried out by order or presentation of authors with experience in the subject, capable of issuing their own criteria based on scientific background. It will be made up of an unstructured summary, exposition of the commentary and bibliographical references.
