Abstract

Las afecciones reumáticas son condiciones autoinmunes, crónicas, dolorosas e inflamatorias que se incrementan cada día en la medida que la población cubana envejece, disminuye la mortalidad infantil y asciende la expectativa de vida.  Todo ello conduce a una elevada prevalencia e impacto de estos padecimientos en la sociedad, con una connotación reveladora tanto en la inserción social precoz  como en la ejecución de las actividades de la vida cotidiana. Inclusive constituye un reto para los profesionales de la salud al contrastar la necesidad de que sean proactivos, actualizados, emprendedores, competentes, competitivos y capaces de aplicar los procederes tecnológicos en salud con un enfoque clínico - epidemiológico, rehabilitador e inclusivo social.
