III Simposio Internacional de Optometristas y Ópticos

Introducción: El tema Biometría y Paquimetría Optativo III de la carrera Licenciatura en Optometría y Óptica exige al estudiante conocimientos de anatomía del aparato visual y del uso, funcionamiento y cuidados de una serie de equipamiento costoso y novedoso que se utiliza en las distintas áreas de atención oftalmológica. La bibliografía necesaria para orientar el estudio de los contenidos del programa se encuentra dispersa y en constante actualización.
Constituye un reto para los profesores la elaboración de instrumentos metodológicos que funcionen como soporte bibliográfico para los programas que se elaboran.
Objetivo: Diseñar un Sitio Web dirigido a complementar el programa para el Optativo III con tema Biometría y Paquimetría para el Currículo de la Carrera de Optometría y Óptica 2010.
Material y Método: Se realizó una investigación del tipo innovación tecnológica. Se utilizaron métodos generales del conocimiento y de la investigación científica teóricos y empíricos. El Sitio Web se elaboró sobre plataforma de software libre.
Resultados: Sitio Web: Biometría y Paquimetría para optometristas incluye bases morfológicas de la anatomía ocular. Recuento de óptica instrumental. Aspectos básicos para el manejo de los equipos: aplicaciones, usos, ventajas, limitaciones, cuidados y mantenimiento. Interpretación de los resultados. Preguntas de control. Bibliografía.
Conclusiones: El diseño del Sitio Web contribuye a la preparación de un licenciado de amplio perfil y actualizado en novedosas técnicas. Las mensuraciones del globo ocular se realizan con medios cada vez más precisos. La correcta realización e interpretación de los resultados garantizan un examen optométrico más completo.
