Status of computerization of medical records at the General Teaching Hospital “Enrique Cabrera Cossío”

Introduction: The computerization of the National Health System aims to provide adequate technological support and solutions, Strengthen the technological infrastructure and applications for the development of hygiene, epidemiology and microbiology actions. Promote applications that allow health regulation to be exercised. Objective: assess the situation of computerization in the institution. Specific objectives were set, such as identifying what level of computerization the institution is at. Method: A descriptive, observational, cross-sectional study is carried out at the Enrique Cabrera Cassio hospital, the bibliography referring to the existing legal framework regarding computerization and digital transformation is analyzed and synthesized. Surveys are applied for the purpose of collecting information. Results: The surveys were applied to the leaders of key departments involved in the computerization process, taking into account what is regulated by the legal framework of computerization and digital transformation. The data was processed and the results were presented. Conclusions: As established by the Ministry of Public Health in the approved schedule for the computerization stages of the sector, it was determined that the institution does not comply with them. It was determined based on the information collected that is at level 1 of computerization: Automated Medical Record (data entry), given that the medical history is not in electronic format and medical records are kept manually and electronically.
