Taxonomy of Contributor Roles (CRediT)

In the case of shared authorship, there is full consensus of the authors and that the proposed article has not been previously presented or published in another media. The authors contribute without omitting any author and indicate the contribution according to the CRedit taxonomy of contributor roles (CRediT taxonomy). This taxonomy distributes the roles of participation in 14 typologies by which an author can be recognized in the publication.

  1. Conceptualization-Ideas; formulation or evolution of overall research objectives and goals.
  2. Data curation-Management activities to annotate (produce metadata), clean data, and maintain research data (including software code, interpret the data themselves) for initial use and subsequent reuse.
  3. Formal analysis-Application of statistical, mathematical, computational, or other formal techniques to analyze or synthesize study data.
  4. Fund Acquisition-Acquisition of financial support for the project leading to this publication.
  5. Research-Conducting an investigation and research process. Conduct experiments, or data/evidence collection.
  6. Methodology-Development or design of methodology; creation of models.
  7. Project administration-Management responsibility and coordination of the planning and execution of the research activity.
  8. Resources-Supply of study materials, reagents, materials, patients, laboratory specimens, animals, instrumentation, computer resources or other analytical tools.
  9. Software-Programming, software development; design of computer programs; implementation of computer code and supporting algorithms; testing of existing code components.
  10. Supervision-Responsibility for supervision and leadership in the planning and execution of research activities. Includes mentoring external to the core team.
  11. Validation-Verification, either as part of the activity or separately, of overall replicability/reproducibility of results/experiments and other research products.
  12. Visualization-Preparation, creation and/or presentation of the published work, visualization/presentation of data.
  13. Writing-Original draft-Preparation, creation and/or presentation of the published work, writing of the initial draft (includes substantive translation).
  14. Writing-revising and editing-Preparation, creation, and/or presentation of the published work by members of the original research group, critical review, commentary, or revision. Includes pre- or post-publication stages.

Authorship policy

The journal recognizes the persons who sign as authors as long as they meet the criteria established universally for authors of scientific articles. Authors of original articles will be asked to send the authorship declaration signed by each of them and explaining their role within the research. The editorial committee reserves the right to accept certain authors in relation to their declared role and the scope of the research.

Policy on previous publications and presentations at events

The Cuban Journal of Health Technology will not consider any original research paper or component of a research paper that has been published or is under consideration for publication elsewhere. Theses or dissertations are not considered prior publications. Publication of research articles deposited in non-profit preprint servers SciELO Preprints, arXiv.org, bioRxiv.org, ChemRxiv.org, medRxiv.org, and the like is acceptable, provided that the preprint is clearly identified as a non-peer-reviewed work. Distribution on the Internet in other ways may be considered pre-publication and may compromise the originality of the article as a submission to a scientific journal. While manuscripts are under the peer review process they should not be published in any instance. If any press coverage of the content of the manuscript is to be made, it is recommended that this be done after the paper has been published.

Policy on declaration of conflict of interest

The authors will declare in the research whether there are conflicts of interest in relation to the research results presented and will be responsible for the information provided. The declaration of conflict of interest is a section within the scientific article.

A conflict of interest exists when an author(s) (or the institution to which he/she belongs), reviewer(s) or editor have personal or financial relationships that may interfere or influence their judgments in relation to the preparation, evaluation or publication of a manuscript.

The most common are financial but more subtle ones such as academic rivalry or intellectual passion may be observed. If there is a conflict of interest in any of the actors: authors, referees or editors, it should be reported in writing.

The idea is not to prevent authors with potential conflicts of interest from publishing; it is to ensure that such conflicts can be clearly identified so that referees and, above all, readers can judge whether the authors might be affected by any bias, perhaps influential in the work.

Policy on ethical violations

The journal uses match detection systems for the analysis of all contributions received without exception.
This journal adheres to all international best practice initiatives in scientific publication; and uses the algorithms of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to resolve all cases of misconduct in scientific publication.

The research submitted must comply with and address the ethical declarations for the types of studies, whether in humans or in animals (Declaration of Helsinki).

Policy on the publication of issues

The journal publishes quarterly with a minimum of 9 articles in each issue. Priority is given to 65% of original articles in each issue.
Issues are published on any date within the period of validity. Articles that are not ready to be published during this period will be available for other issues. No articles are published with a mailing date of more than one year.

Policy on publication languages

The journal publishes articles in Spanish, but favors publication in English provided that the author(s) are native English speakers. English versions of Spanish articles written by Spanish speakers must have professional translation certification.

Document referencing policy

The journal uses the Vancouver style for bibliographic referencing of articles, from the National Library of Medicine (NLM).

Policy on post-publication errors

The Cuban Journal of Health Technology requires the authors to thoroughly review the final version of the manuscript before publication. Authors assume responsibility for any errors not noticed before publication. Errors found after publication will be assessed by the Editorial Committee, which decides whether it is necessary to replace the current version or publish an erratum.

Policy on the publication of special issues or supplements

The special issues or supplements respond to the need to communicate specifically on a topic or event, although the so-called proceeding issues already exist.

The publication of a special issue of the Revista Cubana de Tecnología de la Salud is conditioned to the above mentioned situations. The structure and length will be determined by the Editorial Team, together with the editorial processing unit or Publisher (Editorial Ciencias Médicas). An ad hoc team may be selected to carry out the activity.

Regarding the publication of advertisements or commercial promotions

The Cuban Journal of Health Technology does not promote advertisements of commercial products that function as sponsors. However, in the environment of scientific activity, the pages of the journal can be clear vehicles for dissemination. The courses, workshops and events related to the central theme of the publication can have in this a moderate space to be displayed.

Policy on Open Data

The Cuban Journal of Health Technology promotes the openness of research data, as long as the level of confidentiality allows it. As part of the compliance with the principles of Open Science, the author may submit the research data in any of the servers available internationally for such purposes, which guarantees compliance with the FAIR (Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reusability) principles.

Application of publication charges

This journal DOES NOT APPLY ARTICLE PROCESSING OR PUBLICATION CHARGES.

Repository Policy

The journal promotes the deposit of articles in institutional, thematic, multidisciplinary repositories, with the objective of guaranteeing their long-term preservation and facilitating their access to the scientific community, guaranteeing the quality and integrity of the information shared, and under the commitment to grant the corresponding credit to the journal as the original publication.

Interoperability protocol

The OAI-PMH protocol (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) is used to guarantee the accessibility and efficient management of data and information published in the journal. It allows authors and readers access to metadata and content, and the transfer of digital resources. For access to data through the OAI-PMH protocol click here.
