La nutrición materna antes y durante el embarazo es reconocida como un factor determinante del resultado del nacimiento. Varios estudios han demostrado la importancia que representa el peso pregestacional y la ganancia de este durante el embarazo para evaluar el riesgo del resultado del embarazo. Los factores nutricionales maternos explican el 50% de las diferencias entre las tasas del retraso del crecimiento intrauterino que se observa en los países desarrollados respecto a los subdesarrollados. La raza explica un 25% de esas diferencias y las enfermedades endémicas, la morbilidad general y la talla materna, explican el resto.Palabras claves: Embarazo o gestación, estado nutricional, peso pre y posgestacional, riesgo, pretérmino y necesidades.
Summary
Mother nourishing before and after pregnancy is recognised as a determining factor for birth result. Several studies have demonstrated the importance of pregestation weight and the increase of it during pregnancy to evaluate the risk resulting from gestation. The maternal nourishing factors explain the 50% of differences in the delay of intrauterine growth among developed and underdeveloped countries. Race explains the 25% of those differences and endemic deseases, general morbility, and maternal size explain the rest.
