Information and Communication Technologies in distance education

Abstract

Introduction: the development of Information and Communication Technologies has contributed to Distance Education. At present, it has gained greater visibility since the Covid-19 pandemic, a situation that created a stoppage of daily life in the world, including educational processes, and where this form of teaching turned out to be the solution to such eventuality. Objective: to describe the results obtained with the use of Information and Communication Technologies in Distance Education, applied in the Research Methodology course carried out with students of technological careers incorporated to the work of Covid-19 research in Primary Health Care in 2021. Method: a descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out, where the study universe consisted of 44 students grouped in three technological careers of different levels: Middle Technician, Short Cycle Superior Technician and higher level. Summary measures were used according to the nature of the variables. Results: 45.0% of students of the Short Cycle Superior Technician, 93.2% with ease of access to the virtual classroom, 72.3% with an evaluation of Excellent, 100% with a high degree of satisfaction and 95.4% with good relations between teacher and students. Conclusions: the largest number of students corresponded to the Short Higher Technician, the access to the virtual classroom predominated, the excellent academic results, the high degree of satisfaction with the educational modality used and the good relations between teacher-tutor and students.
