Compendium of Libre Office Calc spreadsheets for processing statistical information

Introduction: the health information management is a key process for the production of reliable health statistics that allow timely decision making and evaluation of health programs. However, there is no software available for information management at the "Enrique Cabrera" General Hospital. Objective: to design a compendium of spreadsheets in LibreOffice Calc for the processing of statistical information of the subsystems of stomatology activities, and emergency, urgency and home admissions at the Enrique Cabrera’s Hospital. Method: a technological innovation study was carried out to develop a spreadsheet compendium for the processing of statistical information at the "Enrique Cabrera" General Hospital. LibreOffice Calc was used as development platform. Results: a compendium of spreadsheets was developed based on the norms and procedures on information systems compiled in statistical manuals, ministerial resolutions and other legal provisions issued by the Ministry of Public Health. To carry out the evaluation of the product, it was submitted to the expertise criteria of computer security specialists and information managers of the Enrique Cabrera’s Hospital. The results of the evaluation were satisfactory. Conclusions: the compendium of spreadsheets designed contributes from medical informatics to the processing of statistical information in the General Hospital "Enrique Cabrera".
