En el artículo se muestran los resultados del comportamiento histórico de la profesionalización del técnico laboratorista dental ecuatoriano, desde la capacitación en la Facultad Piloto de Odontología de la Universidad de Guayaquil. En él se muestra la evolución histórico – lógica que ha tenido la formación del técnico laboratorista dental en este epígrafe se muestra la periodización realizada en cinco etapas: legado familiar; empirismo; formación artesanal; nivel tecnológico superior y nivel universitario, resultados que sirven de fundamento a los procesos de formación continua mediante la capacitación de estos técnicos laboratoristas dentales.
