Informe de un caso de orbitopatía asociada al tiroides

Se presenta el caso de una adolescente de la provincia Guantánamo que llega a consulta de Endocrinología por exoftalmos unilateral izquierdo de aproximadamente once meses de evolución. Sólo la caracterizaba la visión borrosa y cansancio fácil del ojo. Clínicamente eutiroidea. Se le realizaron diferentes estudios para diagnostico etiológico, encontrándose discreto aumento de la función tiroidea. Once meses después de iniciado el seguimiento médico se le diagnosticó una orbitopatía asociada al Tiroides. Se concluye con la ratificación de que la orbitopatía no siempre aparece al diagnóstico del hipertiroidismo, puede preceder a este, o aparecer posterior al tratamiento de la enfermedad; incluso, cuando se ha alcanzado el estado de eutiroidismo. De ahí que sea mejor definida como: orbitopatía asociada al tiroides. Además de ser una afección de aparición rara en edades pediátricas en el curso de la enfermedad de Graves.
