Se realizo una revisión bibliográfica ampliada para describir aspectos relacionados con la introducción de la radiología digital en centros de salud cubanos, sus conveniencias e inconveniencias con un enfoque integral (social, económico, docente e investigativo), en el contexto de dos escenarios del sistema de salud, el Hospital Ortopédico Docente "Fructuoso Rodríguez" y el Policlínico Docente Universitario "Machaco Ameijeiras". Se valoraron variables cualitativas y cuantitativas como productividad, costos, ahorro en películas radiográficas, revelado, aporte a la docencia y la investigación, mejoría en la atención, medica, precisión y rapidez en los diagnósticos, los cuales resultaron ser comparativamente superiores a los que se obtienen con la actual radiología convencional, evidente ahorro económico, incremento de la productividad, mayor satisfacción de prestadores del servicio y pacientes, disponibilidad de banco de imágenes para la actividad de docencia e investigación.

Summary:
One carries out a bibliographical revision enlarged to describe aspects related with the introduction of the digital radiology in Cuban centers of health, their conveniences and unsuitability's with an integral focus (social, economic, educational and investigative), in the context of two scenarios of the system of health, the Educational Orthopedic Hospital "Fructuoso Rodríguez" and the Polyclinic Educational University student "I Mash Ameijeiras". qualitative and quantitative variables were valued as productivity, costs, saving in movies radio graphical, revealed, contribute to the docencia and the investigation, improvement in the attention, prescribes, precision and speed in the diagnoses, which turned out to be comparatively superior to those that are obtained with the current radiology conventional, evident economic saving, increase of the productivity, lenders' of the service bigger satisfaction and patient, readiness of bank of images for the docency activity and investigation.
