Case report of congenital diaphragmatic eventration with atypical clinical presentation

Diaphragmatic defects include a group of entities in which some portion of the abdominal contents protrudes into the thoracic cavity. The widespread use of obstetric ultrasound has led to an increase in the prenatal diagnosis of these defects. We present the case of a male newborn of good weight, who died after a severe respiratory distress of rapid evolution, whose prenatal ultrasound diagnosis revealed the presence of dextrocardia, and at birth there was an image suggestive of left diaphragmatic hernia. The necropsy showed the indemnity of both hemi diaphragms, with a left diaphragmatic eventration, an entity that does not usually cause such a severe and rapid evolution, without precedents in previous healthcare experience.
