Training on fetal well-being tests in nurses. Fe del Valle Ramos" Hospital

Introduction: fetal well-being tests are used to recognize antepartum fetal health, used in pregnant women who present any potential or actual risk that could affect the baby's life. These tests help to avoid fetal or neonatal death and complications. Objective: to evaluate the effectiveness of training program on fetal wellbeing tests in nurses of the Hospital Fe del Valle Ramos. Methods: an observational, quasi-experimental, before-after study was carried out without a control group, through a training program at the "Fe del Valle Ramos" Hospital in Manzanillo from May 2020 to May 2021. A sample of 39 patients was selected and the evaluative instrument was applied. Results: 82.1 % of the nurses were graduates. Fifty-six.4% had 11 to 20 years of experience. The level of competence and performance of the nurses was found to be low for 46.2 % and 38.5 % respectively before the application of the training program. It was evidenced that before the intervention the level of knowledge was low (41 %) and after the training the level of knowledge was high in 64.1 %. Conclusions: the effectiveness of a training program on fetal well-being testing in nurses was evaluated. The application of the training program allowed raising the knowledge levels, performance level and competence of the nurses to improve health care.
