ICD-11: main developments regarding ICD-10

The International Classification of Diseases (ICD) is intended to enable the systematic recording, analysis, interpretation and comparison of mortality and morbidity data collected in different countries or geographical regions and at different times. The ICD in its eleventh revision provides a more updated classification according to the advancement of technologies, the health field and social changes in the world; It provides more up-to-date scientific content, with a higher level of clinical details and code combinations, it has less need for training and an electronic version with links to other classifications, with the content of the reference guide being the only additional document required for coding; Ensures consistency with traditional use cases from previous versions of the ICD, because it was built with previous revisions in mind. Previous data analyzes based on previous versions of the ICD can be linked to data analyzes based on ICD–11.
