Theoretical and Practical Approaches to Optical Services in Havana
Keywords:
theory; practice; optics; ophthalmic lenses; optical servicesAbstract
Introduction: The compensation of refractive errors through lenses contributes in an essential way to the care of ocular health. For this reason, offering quality optical services guarantees user/patient satisfaction, based on methods that allow the control of material resources and product quality with the highest standards, aimed at efficiency and increased productivity.
Objective: To systematize the theoretical and practical foundations that support the quality of optical services in Havana.
Methods: A search was carried out in the bibliographic databases Medline, PubMed and SciELO, through the keywords optical services and optics, present in titles, abstracts and research, published between 2018 and 2026. Fifty-one bibliographic references were collected. Thirty-one theoretical references were analyzed, and manufacturing of ophthalmic lenses, optical services and their quality were defined, based on theoretical and practical foundations.
Conclusions: The systematization allowed us to assume that the quality of optical services sustains the satisfaction of visual and aesthetic demand, which are related and give rise to a perception of sustainable quality, in line with the demands of current socioeconomic and epidemiological development.
