Abstract

RESUMEN

Se realizó estudio descriptivo transversal de 28 casos con el diagnóstico de Distonías Focales que acudieron al Hospital Dr. Luis Días Soto desde octubre de 2010 al mismo mes de 2011. El propósito fundamental del trabajo consistió en demostrar la etiología, características clínicas y respuestas terapéuticas de la Distonía Focal. El blefarospasmo resultó ser la forma más común. Las edades de inicio más afectadas fueron entre 41y 50 años. Se  observó  un predominio de la raza blanca y el sexo femenino fue el más frecuente. Prevalecieron los casos con etiología idiopática. Se mostró una mayor severidad del trastorno en aquellos de causa medicamentosa. El antecedente más común fue el temblor postural. La respuesta terapéutica fue nula en la mayor parte de los casos.
