Los tumores de mieloplaxa más conocidos por tumores de células gigantes son pocos frecuentes, de etiología desconocida, generalmente benigno pero localmente agresivo, un 10% son malignos.
La mayor parte se localiza en la epífisis y metafisis de los huesos largos, menos del 1% son multicentricos, pero clínicamente agresivos, se caracterizan por la presencia de largas células multinucleadas llamadas células gigantes.
Se presenta un paciente masculino de 30 años de edad de raza negra, encamado, parapléjico, caquéctico y con gran toma del estado general, con dicha tumoración en el hueso iliaco izquierdo presentando extensas lesiones osteoliticas metastasicas en casi todos los huesos del esqueleto diagnosticada por el estudio de Tomografía Axial Computarizada.
