Introduction: making knowledge about healthy eating available to all is a basic goal of nutrition education. In order to achieve this, there are indispensable tools. One example is the food pyramid. Austria, as a developed country, has been responsible for creating a pyramid in accordance with these needs. Objective: to characterize the information search trends on the food pyramid in Austria in the period 2018-2022. Methods: a retrospective longitudinal descriptive study was conducted on internet searches for the term "ernährungspyramide" in Austria. The research was conducted with the support of the Google Trends tool. Results: a cyclical search behavior was observed, in which invariably during each year of this period the highest peak was found in the first quarter and the lowest in the third quarter. According to states, Burgerland exhibited the highest relative search volume value, and the lowest value was Vienna. Among the terms related to the food pyramid, nutrition stood out, the term with the fewest searches was legumes. With respect to social networks, Tiktok showed the highest number of searches, while Reddit was the least outstanding. Conclusions: the term "food pyramid" generated interest in a cyclical manner. The search values do not exceed expectations, which expresses the need for further implementation of the use of this nutrition education tool. The most popular social network was Tiktok, which may offer less accurate or reliable information than official sources.
