Comportamiento del maltrato en el adulto mayor del ASIC "Simón Bolívar" en el año 2005.

Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo en 56 Adultos Mayores del área de salud del ASIC (Área de Salud Integral Comunitaria)"Simón Bolívar", estado Guárico en la República Bolivariana de Venezuela, en el año 2005, para analizar el comportamiento del maltrato y sus principales formas de expresión. Para dar salida a los objetivos se aplicó una encuesta donde se recogieron un número de variables clínico-epidemiológicas. Predominaron: los ancianos del sexo femenino, las edades entre 60 y 69 años, los divorciados. La totalidad de estos ancianos ha sufrido alguna vez, después de cumplir los 60 años, el maltrato hacia su persona, y con mayor frecuencia fueron sus propios familiares las figuras ejecutoras. El abuso psicológico fue el tipo de agresión más utilizado, refiriendo un tiempo de exposición al maltrato superior al año. La mayor parte de los ancianos procedían de familias ampliadas incompletas siendo: el deseo de morir, la no respuesta y la depresión; las formas más frecuentes de reacción ante la violencia o maltrato.

Abstract
A descriptive observation study was conducted in 2005 on 56 Elderly People of the? Simon Bolivar? Health area, which belongs to the Community Comprehensive Health Area (ASIC in Spanish). The area is located in Guárico State, in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. The objective of the research was to analyze the behavior of mistreatment and its main forms of expression. To accomplish this objective, a survey was applied in order to gather a number of clinical and epidemiological variables. Predominance: elderly females; ages between 60 and 69 years old; divorced. All these elderly people had suffered mistreatment at some point once they were 60 years old; frequently the perpetrators were their own relatives. Psychological abuse was the most common aggression, with an exposure time of more than a year. The majority of these elderly people came from incomplete extended families, and the most frequent reaction forms to violence or mistreatment were: desire to die, no answer and depression.
