Demographic characterization of the "Carlos Manuel Portuondo" Teaching Polyclinic in Havana in the year 2022

Introduction: demography studies human populations, their status and dynamics over time. It is an academic interest to provide information that favors an approach to the current reality of the health area. Objective: to describe the demographic characteristics of the "Carlos Manuel Portuondo" Teaching Polyclinic in the year 2022. Method: a cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out on the population of the "Carlos Manuel Portuondo" Teaching Polyclinic, analyzing the demographic indicators of the state and dynamics: population size, composition by sex and age, crude mortality rate, live births, fertility rate in general, masculinity index. The information was summarized in absolute and relative frequencies, presented in tables and graphs. The data were collected through content analysis of documents from the time series of the Death Registry, Consolidated of age and sex groups; and the Maternal and Child Care Program. Results: in the year 2022, the "Carlos Manuel Portuondo" Teaching Polyclinic had a population of 39876 people, 20794 (52.1%) of the female sex and 19082 (47.8%) of the male sex. The male index was 92 men for every 100 women. There were 27.3 births per 1,000 women of childbearing age. There were 4.7 deaths per 1,000 inhabitants, including 4.9 men per 1,000 men and 4.6 women per 1,000 women. Conclusions: the demographic characteristics of the teaching Polyclinic "Carlos Manuel Portuondo" in the year 2022 were described, which favors an approach to the current reality of the territory.
